Atrium ArtistsAfter working with ECHO in the Community on our Little Liverpool Designers project, we have teamed up again to give a group of 11-14 year olds the opportunity to help develop an artwork. The creation will play a major part in visitors’ first impressions of the new Museum of Liverpool.
Following a competition in the Liverpool Echo, young people from the Bootle-based Redi Extra project were chosen by a panel. The group is working with professional artist Faith Bebbington
to help create a bold, striking and fun piece of contemporary artwork for the museum’s stunning Atrium space. Our ‘Atrium Artists’ recently visited for the first time, to see where the artwork will be located and gain inspiration from the museum itself.

Holding history
The education team for the new Museum of Liverpool needs the help of local people to track down a number of items to use in learning sessions. These include a Victorian bucket and spade set and an Afghan coat from the 1960s. Aside from seeing more than 6,000 objects on display, visitors will be able to take part in exploration and hands-on activity. Part of the museum’s education programme includes opportunities to get close to objects, allowing people to touch, feel and experience them during regular handling sessions.
The range of items required, from a top hat to a docker's hook, can be viewed on the Museum of Liverpool website. Donors must be based in the Liverpool area for ease of collection.

Bird spottingIn January we were very excited to invite members of the local press to visit the Museum of Liverpool site to check up on progress. The Liverpool Echo
visited for an exclusive look at one of the key objects installed in the People’s Republic Gallery – an 18ft life-size Liver Bird.
In July you will be able to see for yourself the magnificence of the Liver Birds that perch on top of the Liver Building, whilst standing next to a life-size replica and looking across at the real thing through the gallery’s massive picture window.
